Problem 1: Download button is too hidden & technical issues in the review window The download button is difficult to find since it is hidden within the player settings. Clients expect an easily visible button directly below the video player (as seen on Vimeo / Frameio). In addition, the download button in the review window sometimes does not work at all: In Arc and Safari browsers, downloading simply does not start, which is highly problematic in professional contexts. Problem 2: No option to choose the download format Currently, only the automatically generated MP4 video can be downloaded. However, in professional film production, custom versions of the files are often needed—such as differently compressed versions or files prepared for specific purposes like online use or events. It should be possible to offer the original file (as we have prepared and compressed it) for download. In its current form, the download function is therefore hardly usable for professionals. I understand that Gumlet primarily work with processed files to save storage space. However, would it be possible to allow original files to be retained for selected clips—or to give the option to upload the original file in addition to the processed one? For example, the original file could be made available for download for a defined period, such as one month. Problem 3: Missing Option to Enable/Disable Download Button per Video Currently, the download option can only be activated globally in the player settings for the entire collection. This means that either all videos in a collection can be downloaded — or none at all. Typically, a separate collection is created for each client, within which there are different versions (drafts, revisions, final videos). It must be possible to enable downloads only for the final, approved video, but not for unfinished drafts or sensitive content. This is particularly critical for portfolio use: If I want to embed a client’s video on my public portfolio page, users should, for data protection and copyright reasons, not be able to download that video. Feature suggestion: Clearly visible download button beneath each video player. Download can be controlled individually for each video—not just globally for a collection. Option to allow download of the original (non-processed) file. Download must work reliably across browsers.

On mobile, the playlist is hidden by default and only appears after tapping the button in the top right. This makes it feel like a single video rather than a playlist. Please add an option to show the playlist list below the video on mobile, so it’s visible without needing to open a menu.

File deletion should be an immediate termination to any jobs linked to that asset, in the pending queue. It is more intuitive and in common sense to users that have no deep knowledge to Gumlet or how generally OTT providers work.

Currently, embedding a playlist may allow viewers to bypass password protection on individual videos. Any password-protected video should remain protected when accessed through an embedded playlist, requiring viewers to enter the password before playback.

will you add codecs like AV1/VP9 and support 8K resolutions. If not today -my question would be when?

We recently migrated our video library from Vimeo to Gumlet and have noticed a significant difference in how quickly Auto quality responds to a fast internet connection. On a 1 Gbps connection, Gumlet videos regularly start at 360p, move up to 720p, and can remain at 720p for some time even though a 1080p version is available. For comparison, our remaining Vimeo videos are also set to Auto. On exactly the same connection, Vimeo detects the available bandwidth very quickly and moves to 1080p almost immediately, resulting in a noticeably sharper picture much sooner. I am aware of the start_high_res=true option, but I don’t want to force the highest resolution from the start because some of our members will be using slower connections and this could potentially cause unnecessary initial buffering. It would be great if Gumlet’s Auto adaptive quality selection could respond more quickly to high-bandwidth connections, moving to 1080p sooner when the connection can clearly support it, while retaining the existing adaptive behaviour for viewers on slower connections.

Have a filter to automatically know which video has DRM enabled.

Dear Gumlet team, We regularly use your platform to share videos with customers. Especially for new customers, the first impression with our edited video is decisive — this is usually created directly via the review link. Although there are already some customization options in the player settings, we would like to see even more flexibility. Possible implementation ideas: Setting a background color (light/dark or freely selectable via hex code; so far only Gumlet white is possible) Possibility to discreetly place your own (customer) logo in the background or in a corner Freely selectable font Benefits & Reasoning: Professional initial impression: The very appearance of the review link determines how professionally our work is perceived. The more we can address our own brand or even that of the respective customer, the more convincing is our appearance. Customer experience & surprise effect: A personalized review interface with customer-specific colors, background images or the company logo is a positive surprise. It tells the customer that they are individually appreciated and that the workflow is specifically tailored to them. As a professional service provider, this sets us apart from the competition. Psychological effect of the video effect: The option to set the player's background to black, for example (as in cinema), visually highlights the video and increases the “cinematic” feeling — making the presentation of content even more impressive. Expanding existing options: It's great that the play button and the branding in the player can already be customized, but the player logo is often rather annoying when viewed. Placing the logo and designing the background outside the player would probably be more advantageous. It may be a change that, from a developer's point of view, does not involve much effort at all (estimated in layman's terms, of course) — but the added value for customer communication and the overall professional picture would certainly be there!
